Lytegem Lamp
I admit it, I'm a bit of a lamp tramp. I love a really great lamp. When I saw this beauty at Tuesday Morning for $19.99, I just had to have it, whether I really needed it or not! That fact has never stopped me before, just ask my husband! I went home and discovered on the Internet that it is a commemorative limited edition reissue of a 1965 lamp by Michael Lax. The original design is part of the permanent collection of New York's Museum of Modern Art. Wow! How cool! It was at Design Within Reach for $125.00. I went back the next day and bought 2 more. Hey, I know a bargain when I see one! Apartment Therapy blogged about it here: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/chicago/lighting/lytegem-lamp-021609

Why does this face look so familiar?
A few years ago I was walking the isles of my favorite Goodwill (honestly, they are all my favorites) when I passed by this picture. He seemed to be looking at me and asking me to take him home. So I did. The $3.99 price tag helped with that decision. There was something so familiar about that face. I did a little research and found its called "Heads of Two Clowns" by Georges Rouault. I love his expression and all the colors in the picture. He really fit in with all my stuff. So up he went with the continued nagging notion that I had seen this face before......
.....a few days later my Mother handed me a stack of old photos she wanted me to have. I put them aside for the moment. While flipping through them later I came across this familiar face. No, not the cute little tomboy sheriff posing on Christmas day, but the framed picture on the wall behind me (yes thats me). There he was! I knew I'd seen that face before! I'd always known my Mom had good taste now I have proof.

Bartlett or Anjou?
I fount this print last night at Goodwill for $9.99. I originally picked it up because I need a frame for my "For Like Ever" print, but as I carried it around and then brought it home, it really started to grow on me. Its by Milton Glaser and its called "Floating Pear." I did a little research online and discovered it might be worth something! I am going to find just the perfect spot in my home for this gem!

Can you ever have enough pillows?
I've had these pillows in my head for a while now. I decided I had to finally get them out and into the world. I don't sew mind you. Using my daughters Hello Kitty sewing machine and fabric scraps I had from covering chair seats, I made these 2 pillows! I think they turned out pretty good...and pretty!

I have 2 houses
That sounds pretty snobby I know. Its not. The best part about having 2 homes is having 2 very different lifestyles. One is about school, work, games and lessons. The other is fishing, baking and taking walks after too many games of UNO. I love the contrast. I also get to make pretty in a whole different way.
