My inner MacGyver
I'm working on the little dresser I got last week, and I decided I needed the drawer pulls to be silver instead of bronze. Like any good do-it-yourselfer, I happened to have silver spray paint on hand. (Doesn't everyone?) Now I needed a way to spray them so that the pulls themselves would not be resting on the plates. I walked around my house trying to figure out how to repurpose anything and everything for this task, and I realized they needed to be suspended from something. So with a cardboard box from Costco and some duct tape, I McGyvered this little contraption together. My father will be proud, he is the master of this sort of thing. He must have handed a little bit of it down to me. Thanks Dad!

My latest project
Lately I have been obsessed with taking old furniture pieces and painting them glossy white. I like the juxtaposition of the classic lines and stately hardware of antique pieces, with the modern shiny, almost lacquered look of a white high gloss. I got this little dresser at the Salvation Army Boutique on Barbur. They have a special deal some days when everything in the store is 50% off, so this baby was a steal. I got out my handy sander yesterday and will prime tomorrow. More pictures to come!

We are not afraid of power tools!
I saw this lovely jewelery holder on a blog called Design *Sponge. I fell in love with her beautiful profile, and graceful shape. My daughter and I decided she would be a great project for us to tackle together. The site has great instructions and even a template to print out. We got to work....cutting and priming and spraying glossy white. We love her and think she turned out so very pretty! http://www.designspongeonline.com/2010/02/diy-project-jewelry-bust.html

3/4 of the reason for everything I do.
I took this picture of my kids during Spring Break. My son was home from college and the 3 of them were hanging around outside in between rain showers. The cherry tree was in full bloom and without really posing they stood perfectly for me, even the dog. It was such a natural moment, I'm proud to have captured it. I had picked up the frame at Goodwill for $4.99 and had the photo blown up at Costco for $5.99. Inexpensive, instant art! My favorite kind.

The prettiest thing ever.
My parents have been married for 50 years...50 years! That is a reason to celebrate, and we are. My very talented sister Katherine put together this amazing keepsake invitation for the event. That girl has mad skills and loves to share them...and she is one of the nicest people I know. Nice work sister!!
